ASSETT Presentations for Fall 2015

This Fall we are focusing a lot of our work on providing SWIVL training so that faculty and students have experience working with these great devices. They enable video recording in the classroom with good sound and a camera that will follow you wherever you may wander in the classroom.

In November, we are joined by Dr. Weiwei Zhang of the Center for Academic Innovation. Dr. Zhang is also the Moodle and LMS learning specialist for campus. Be sure to check out her presentation listed below!

SWIVL hardware training

ITC 001, Tues Oct 6th, from 2-3pm

Attendees will get first-hand experience setting up SWIVLs, downloading the app, connecting an iPad to the SWIVL, and practice recording presentations. The focus is hands-on. We will only create videos in this session. Editing of SWIVL videos will the focus of a training on Wednesday, November 4th. (See schedule below).

The Productivity Paradox

ED 204, Wed Oct 14 from 12-1pm

Presenters share 20 technology tools along with tips and best practices for increasing productivity while minimizing cognitive overload and expense. The twenty tools and tips will form a foundation for an interactive discussion where audience members speak, tweet, and share their own solutions to the #productivityparadox.

SWIVL video editing training

ITC 001, Wed Nov 4th, from 12-1pm

Attendees will learn how to efficiently save, transfer, and edit video they have recorded with their SWIVL. Be sure to bring the device you recorded some SWIVL video on as well as cords to connect to the computers! Also, it will help if you attend one of the two SWIVL hardware trainings in October!

ED 204, Wednesday, 12/2, from 12-1 with Elayne Kuletz, Nathan Sauer, and Greg Zobel

Participants will get hands on experience connecting their devices, sharing media, and basics for integrating this into lesson plans and presentations.

 

Media in online/hybrid courses

ED 118, Thursday, 11/19, from 2-3 with Dr. Weiwei Zhang

In this workshop, we will look at popular tools/media in online and hybrid courses in Moodle. We will approach this topic from the design perspective of online/hybrid courses, including the design of activities and the tools/media that are used for these activities, as well as the design of the course structure and physical layout of the course page.
